 Rachel Lee |Case 1|
« Thread Started on Jul 10, 2007, 7:09pm »

The resident of surgery walked in to the room in a huff. She was very concerned with the status of all three patients that walked in around the same time. As this patient was the first and most important at the time, she was exaimened immediately. The room was like all hospitals; rolling, moveable bed, tv with a strange remote, and the boring tile and white walls. Oh goody, everyone loved to be in these rooms.

Holding the clipboard and flipping through the pages she determined her speech to give to the unsuspecting patient. It was hard alot of times to explain to them what was happening but it needed to be done, but the worst was when they panicked. With no intern to give a brief for her, Doctor Richards had to brief herself with more stress that no intern could be in monitoring any of her recent patients.

"Hello, Mrs. Lee, I am Doctor Richards. I understand you are having some severe headaches recently." With a sigh Krisitna finished her entrace and came ot the left side of the bed, which was facing, in direction, the West Wing. Her Nike sneakers provided comfort for the long day ahead and they barely made a squeek compared to the nurses' shoes some people wore. It was amazing how the white coat over her blue scrubs made her look more professional, something ironic possibly.

"Yes, but any causes?" The voice was soft and tiredl no doubt fatigued from being here and taking X-rays of her cranium. The patient barely moved her head to view more of the doctor, she seemed more interested in sleep. "It keeps me form sleeping and Ibprophen isn't helping, neither does Aspiren or Aleve." The voice was almost pleading and something in the doctor almost caused her to melt into the terrible diagnosis.

"Ma'am, we have found a mass in your brain...We believe it is a tumor." Kristina let the words come out as slowly as she could. The news was terrible and the fear and confusion was written all over Rachel Lee's face. It was so pale and held grey cresents under her misty hazel eyes. Kristina's brows raised in simpathy but nothing would break the news any softer. It was now over with and the next step was for the Attending, Chief, and Krisitna to conference over the best possible way to go about this, but already Kristina knew it would be surgery. The tumor was large but not impossible to remove, if they could do it right.

Tamara sped to the new patients room. Rachel Lee. Severe headaches. Appears to be a tumor. No, it was a tumor. A big one. Tamara reviewed the case in her head as always. She pulled her hair back into a low pony tail. Biting her lip she arrived to the room.

"We belive it is a tumor..." Doctor Richards last words echoed in the room. Tamara knocked quietly and entered.
"I'm sorry that I'm late Docter Richards. Good afternoon Mrs.Lee." Tamara said in a soft tone. She was slightly out of breathe from being so late and rushing.

Tamara pulled a clipboard from a side table. She quickly and quietly sped over to Dr. Richards.

Evie rushed through the corridor, still thinking about the case that she was on. She'd looked over the X-rays, scans, everything. She'd had a few cases of the sort in past, they were the sort that she disliked handling, especially when the patient had a family. Evie knew that she was slightly late but she'd been thinking about it too much and not looking at the clock. Arriving at the door, she knocked briskly and waited a few moments before entering. She remembered to slow down her walk a little, she normally walked to fast and she always thought that if walked into a patient's room at a high speed, they might think that they have a cause for panic. Entering the room, looking her usual self, she smiled and nodded to the resident, Kristina Richards and the intern that she had taken quite a liking to, Tamara Night.

By the atmosphere in the room and the patient's expression, Evie could already tell that the patient had been told of the diagnosis. She smiled sincerely at her, "A very good afternoon to you, Mrs Lee." Her tone was free of any worry and she sounded fairly confident. It was a patient room, not an examination room, so when she took the X-rays out of the folder, she looked at them against the ceiling light. "I thought it was a Thrombosis, a blood clot at first." she half said to herself, "No," she frowned slightly in thought, "I've checked and re-checked, it is a tumor."

Evie looked at the patient. Rachel Lee was probably much younger than Evie and she was quite the pretty thing too and she looked worried, but not like she was worried for herself. 'Yes,' Evie thought, 'she probably has a family to look after.' Evie was only slightly worried by the size of the tumor but there had been two such cases before, both successful. If they were careful enough, this one would be successful as well. She smiled kindly at Rachel, "Yes, it's serious, Mrs. Lee, I will not lie. But it can be removed, quite a few cases have been successful in the past." She went back to looking at the X-ray for a moment before turning back to the patient, Evie's eyes twinkled with a certain confidence and she smiled again, "We'll take care of you, don't worry yourself about it."

Kristina was in a tsky mood but lecturing a late intern was not to her concerns as of now. She would rather maintain herself for when Dr. Jones arrived, which an Attending could arrive when they had time, how very nice it was. Dr. Richards smiled at Rachel Lee; "Miss Lee, this is Dr. Night, she will be helping me and tending to you, she is also one of our lovely interns." Kristina turned to Tamara. She had serious eyes but not for lecturing, for getting down to business with the patient and how the intern would do her job.

"You missed your chance to brief me, how lucky you are." Kristina said this with slight irritation but not cold or angry. She voiced her words in whispers at the intern, keeping the patient from hearing their own chit chat.

As Dr. Jones walked in and looked at the X-rays again, Krisitna rubbed her neck. "It's just like the last tow but in a different position. Of course, it will be taken care of, to the best of ability." A cheesy smiled spread on Dr. Richards's face. She was in no mood for light, airy talk. She preferred to ge the job done but procedures of prep would follow before the surgical action, how boring that was, but completely necessary.
